Get Up In The Morning/Circus Jig

|

A foolish whim these last month was buying and then making myself a pair of rhythm bones so that I have a pair for each hand. Foolish because I know that my washboard playing is not nearly good enough to give myself yet another thing to practice, but what can you do… Rhythm bones were just too attractive to not try and now that I have, I find them even more so although obviously it will be years of practice to get somewhere; it must be said that I’m not particularly dexterous…

Scott Miller, who is playing the bones in this video, is not only a fantastic rhythm bone player but is also the guy to see if you would like a pair of bones or two. His online rhythm bone store Bone Dry Music is great place to browse and discover this relatively unknown world. The store also sells Zinc King #703 Washboards and a bunch of other fun stuff like bells, tin cups and bulb horns.

  1. Hello, I don’t know if this is appropriate here, but I wanted to bring to your attention a Scott Miller protégée, his name is Kyle Pretzl, he learned the bones in a hurry from Scott a couple of years ago, a young people are want to do (he’s now 15) but here he is playing some ragtime

  2. Hi Carl,

    Thanks for the link!
Sure, be glad to post it, I like the ones with the jokes too even if I need to read the comments to “get” some of them.

And BTW: I love your banjo playing!
