Cedell Big G Davis – Slide Blues in Boston 1983
Back in the days you actually went to a store to buy music, probably as much as 20% of my favorite LPs & CDs came from the bargain bin. 1993’s “Feel like doin’ something wrong” by Cedell Davis was one of those, an incredible album if you tune in to it which, BTW, you can still get over at Fat Possum Records!
Cedell’s guitar sound is raw and some might say

Strictly Jug Nuts at The Chicago Battle of the Jug Bands 2011
Sigh… seems like everything is keeping me away from this blog these days…
Anyway, took advantage of a few spare minutes to browse around looking for some good music (preferably with a washboard or rhythm bone player) and stumble on the Strictly Jug Nuts

Tried to find a video from Blues Rules #2 where Hillstomp member John Johnson plays the washboard but the above will have to do and after all his buckets are just as cool; if not more! In any case the duo he makes with Henry Christian is one of the more exciting bands I’ve come across lately.

From last week’s gig.
It’s not easy to comment on ones own bones work but I was happily surprised with this video because while playing I felt that I was really screwing up the song with all the mistakes I was making, but in the end there are only two or three that are glaringly obvious (to me at least).

Tuesday I went to the ABC, the cultural center here in La Chaux-de-Fonds, to see a performance by musician - dancer - composer - performer Steve Buchanan, who has created a “mini-interactive percussive/dance system”: the 2nd LINE…

It’s been a while since I’ve made it to New York so stumbling on a Floyd Lee video made me a bit nostalgic since listening to him play in the subway is one of the better things a visitor like myself can do in the big apple. (It sure beats doing the gallery scene!)
The last time I saw him I picked up his 2003 “Mad As Hell In Crappy Blues” CD which is a fun album
