Taking Tap Into The 21st Century

Tuesday I went to the ABC, the cultural center here in La Chaux-de-Fonds, to see a performance by musician - dancer - composer - performer Steve Buchanan, who has created a “mini-interactive percussive/dance system”: the 2nd LINE.

He danced three new works for us plus an encore, and as you can see by my use of words his work is truly at the crossroads of dance and music. It is amazingly coherent and quite fascinating, dividing your attention almost painfully between the desire to close your eyes and listen and not wanting to miss a move.

As is unfortunately to often the case with someone who is really exploring such unique inbetween territories, Steve was telling me the difficulties in finding venues to perform at so all you organizers of dance and music productions take note: Mr. Buchanan is really worth checking out!

Updated 2017 to add: The flyer is from Tuesday’s performance, no way to find the video that was here originally, I replaced it with something recent.
