Many years ago I worked in the Swiss alps doing odd jobs, cutting wood, caring for a bunch of chickens, sheep and a cow. Clementine was her name so this design is for her.
That winter (1977-78) had record snow falls, and shoveling snow turned into a daily activity. One sunny afternoon we cleared out a space in front of the barn to put the animals in while doing a major cleaning. We took for granted that the over 6 feet of snow would keep them from wandering off, a big mistake.
Imagine a mountain side with two fools chasing a cow in snow deep enough that you had to fight just to keep your head above it. And of course the easiest direction to move in was to go down the slope, which turned into some very steep land below and probably would have been fatal. The sun was setting by the time we got her back in to the barn.
