The mysterious ways of the web… There I was checking for new rhythm bone videos when among the listed a video called “Dem Bones” (BTW: not this one) by Steve Buchanan caught my attention. The name seemed familiar but I was still struggling to connect it when the video, as it would, gave the answer.
At least four years ago Bill called to propose that I pass by his workshop to meet a couple of friends of his and check out the electronic instrument one of them was developing. Steve, because it was him, is a musician and a dancer as well as someone who seems totally at ease with today’s musical electronics. 2nd LINE is an interactive percussive/dance system which means that if you really want to use its entire potential you’ll need to dance!
I was able to try and remember it as a extraordinary experience! Even though my steps weren’t up to par it was tremendous fun, creating a simultaneously physical and metaphysical bond between the dancer and the music, as well as a good way to get rid of any excess flab. Sweat!
