Meanwhile In Auckland...

What a cool t-shirt! ;-)

Dave seems to have gotten over jet lag and was invited to “sit” in and play a few numbers with Indigo Blues; an Auckland based blues/rock band; playing Chicago/ British influenced music. They also enjoy blending the blues and Jazz with a wide spectrum of ‘good songs’.

I couldn’t find the band’s website so if you know it, post it! – Please – Dave reported the evening as being “Great Fun!”, and is hoping to find other musical venues. He was told that the summer was better, more festivals, but I’m not sure if that means he’s too early or too late…

(Dave’s travels will be categorized under both Crawfish and Messin’ Round for reasons I hope I have no need to explain)

Electric Crawfish Blues?

The last few times Crawfish has gotten together to rehearse have mostly been to determine whether we could manage some decent electrified versions of a few of the songs we do, this for the xmas concert at La Case A Chocs in two weeks. For me it doesn’t change much, I just try and make my noise even louder but for Dave, playing electric guitar instead of acoustic will be a change.

Beer, Wine & Let The Lights Shine On Me

Last Friday we – Crawfish – played for a bar that was celebrating it’s first anniversary here in the city. They had closed off the street, put out tables and tents, got the BBQ going, invited some wine folks to present their wine, set up an outdoor bar and stuck a truck in front of it all in which we squeezed along with the DJ equipment.

Since the street was slightly slanted, the truck was too so we were all in a leaning forward kind of position that was funny. My little problem of the evening was keeping my foot from sliding up against the bass drum… But besides a guitar stand falling over the edge the setup went surprisingly well…

Croch'Pied Blues

A picture from last night’s concert, the first as the Crawfish Blues Band. Great evening, we all enjoyed it and so it seems, did the public who still wanted more at 1 AM, after pretty much 3 hours of our playing…
