Messin’ Round has often played at the P’tit Paris, a cool café near where I live. In fact it was there that I heard Dave for the first time as well as debut my ongoing existence as washboard player wannabe a few month later. So I was thrilled when Bill asked me if I would join him and guitarist Julien Revilloud to play a few songs for the party that was organized in honor of Reto, the joint’s owner, who was leaving after 20 years in which he made it one of this area’s important hang out places where all felt welcome, artists, business folks, locals and passersby.
A landmark.

Fortunately, he is not leaving to retire but to take care of his new baby, the Café du Coin, which will certainly find its way into this blog in the future.

For one tune, Bill played a Hang, an instrument that I, like many others, instantly fell in love with, but that after having been able to play with, and on, have already fallen out of love with. What can I say, too much sweetness makes this man sick, I’ll stick with my washboard thank you… That said however, it was a lot of fun to play and was great for the party!
