Fête de quartier

Tonatem Tower

Saturday’s fun brings today’s burnout so I will keep it short – for my own sake.

I helped friend Bill install and animate an afternoon activity at our local “Fête de quartier” (neighborhood fete). He organizes different musical workshops for the young, and sometimes not so young, which might interest anyone who had already identified the cool sculpture pictured here as a musical instrument. It is yet in fact is more than that since it can be played as it is, and each element can also be removed to become a separate instrument called a Tonatem so I guess what we have in this pictured could be called a Tonatem Tower and is just one small aspect of Bill’s art.

After that Dave joined us for a great soup and BBQ supper to warm our hearts and get us revving for a summer evening of Blues.
Left to right is bandmaster Dave (guitar, vocals), myself (washboard+) and Bill (flugabone, trumpet…).
