Some more footage from Floyd Beaumont and the Arcadelphians with yours truly on the washboard.
Part of this was filmed between sets without really considering what I was going to do with it. Always a mistake, but that’s the way it goes…

Last Friday Swamp Train played on what turned into a very wet cruise; and the loss of two mixing tables…
Updated 2017: I had two videos posted here but unfortunately they aren’t available anymore; very sorry!
Hot and humid while we set up, a short drizzle to cool things down, a great crowd, a boat going in circles and through the canal de la Broye – the lakes off limit due to the weather conditions, a short break with a beer, a storm breaking hell on the upper deck where we were playing, a water filled crosswind like a wave, a very wet crowd and stage, a blown mixing table but Gaël is not one to give up so easily, got some sound going again, the boat back at its dock where we played on until the police broke up the party at midnight!
All in all a memorable evening…
A video of Swamp Train from the Blues Café radio show. This took place last month at the Millenium in the village of Isle d’Abeau, which is east of Lyon in France.
Yours truly on drums, washboard and bones..
CeDell Davis – Blues Back Home
An inspiring documentary from 1984 on the great Mississippi bluesman CeDell Davis.
CeDell’s music is so special and emotional that it kind of leaves me speechless when it come to writing about it; although I have tried in the past. What is there to say? He should be better know and he should be in whatever halls of fame those folks who like that sort of thing have for the blues…!
Many thanks to cjohnson22463 for posting this.
Pretty bad that my last post was over 2 month ago… but at least it gives today’s post a link of sorts since the concert I went to last Friday was organized by the Vully blues club and was the club’s thanks to all the members and volunteers who had helped out during the festival mentioned below.
And an enjoyable concert it was, given by French bluesman Cisco Herzhaft who played a variety of acoustic blues styles while also explaining a bit of the history…
Updated to add:
Well, once again for whatever reasons two of these videos have been removed. :-(
One can only hope that they will become available somehow, somewhere.
Check out this one while it still up!
Nursery Rhyme Blues
Had a great time last night at the Left Lane Cruiser gig down in Geneva! These guys delivered an amazing amount of energy, all more considering they had driven down from Paris and arrived pretty much at the time they were programed to play. Having just faced the late rush hour Geneva traffic myself I can really sympathize; and be glad that I’m not that tempted by much of what the local music scene has to offer. Driving to Geneva is long enough (about 2 hours) that no one needs the extra half hour it take just to get downtown (it’s really not that big a city).
They immediately set up their gear, did a quick sound check and even had time to come over and chat with us
