1st Swamp Train Recording Session

Wouldn’t you know that the weather would go from mild to hot on the day we (Swamp Train) began 3 days of recordings for our first album. Still, I guess it’s fortunate that around here heatwaves are usually pretty dry, even if the temperature on the studio’s dinky little wood thermometer hit 36.5°C / 97.7°F, it was possible to grin and bear it; although it obviously helped the occasional flame of temper that can occur when 4 guys are stuck in a closed over hot and unventilated environment for two long.
None of them very serious, thankfully. I’m sure having managed to get 4-5 tracks on tape hardisk by Monday evening helped keep our spirits tame.

There have been many discussions among the band this spring as to recording an album, just a few demo tracks or nothing at all. The money spent and images of boxes of unsold CDs filling up the attic… But with the poor quality of the tracks we have up on the band’s website a growing thorn in at least my foot and the fact that we have been getting more and more after concert demands for CDs, even our more reluctant band members now agree on the necessity of an album.

Now obviously we could just have mp3 tracks posted to be downloaded, but since there is as much enthusiasm discussing the cover art as the music, it’s easily seen that the band’s average age fits a generation were the object still counts as much as the content.

In any case will be going back to the studio Saturday for an extra day and are hoping that in all will come together by September, so stay posted!
;-)

My sketch is of Studio ADSS’s sound engineer and “homme à tout faire” Bastien in front of the desk.
