Already September! With all the activity lately ether I haven’t had time or was simply too tired to blog. Anyway…
Last week’s opening went well, it’s always nice when all the galleries of a certain area open their respective shows on the same evening, gets folks out and walking. The gallerists of most cities have figured that out and Zürich is no exception, I think they’ve divided the city into four areas which have independent gallery nights. It was sunny and hot out, and a bit muggy too. I dropped my stuff off at the hotel downtown, walked to the gallery – about 15-20min away – and just started pouring sweat once indoors… for what seemed like hours, terrible. Fortunately there was a refreshingly fruity pinot blanc to sip on, it’s nice to be with a gallery that still serves decent wine!
There was a good crowd too, which you can not see here since I took these pictures the next morning. Sorry for the cheap cell phone picture quality, but a cheap cell phone is what I have… As you can see it’s not a very big space, the first picture shows a group of three “lost paper & wax” bronze works from ’02 – ’03, Hang 1999, hanging on the right and Shake Baby Shake, an earlier work (1993) in the window.
Rockets 2 (Dream Gourds), 2003 – made of paper & acrylic and also shown in the second picture – hangs in front and Curled 2002, another paper work, hangs above.
The painting are by Italian artist Graziano Marini.
There was a lakeside party afterwards, all the participating galleries took over one of Zürich’s swimming areas Seebad Enge for a BBQ meal, where among other artists and art folks I had a chance encounter with man’s best friend.
:-)
