Sunday I was thrilled to receive a “love your stuff” message with a “how about a keyboard playing skeleton?” ending. So I puffed up my chest feathers and gave it some thought.
The truth is that I had already considered a piano playing skeleton last year but didn’t really see it in my head…

Ah, the good old days when men were men and monsters were men too…

Yesterday E & I spent a couple of hours picking wild strawberries. Unfortunately there weren’t very many to be found so we only managed to pick about 500 grams; half of what we picked last year in about the same time. They’re pretty small, it probably takes between 15 and 25 of them to equal 1 domestic farm grown water filled strawberry but they have so much more taste, almost too much for jam, which nevertheless is what E made with them…

So much work to be done at Rattlebrained Designs that I haven’t had much time for blogging or much else lately. Sales are down, blame the economy and my incapacity to be mainstream, but visitors are significantly more numerous than in the past so hope there still is to break through somehow.
Fortunately various musical activities have kept me from rotting completely. The Tonatem Time afternoon with Bill Holden down in Ferney-Voltaire was a lot of fun…

Funny how different concerts can have such different atmospheres…
11 day ago we played in Neuchâtel at the port, with the lake right behind us and the occasional boat blaring its horn. I got there early (17h00) hoping to have more time to get the sound adjusted. We though we were playing on a boat but the place turned out to be a small bar “shack” with a terrace and we had to wait until the tables were moved to give us room so it was past 18h30 by the time we were able to start installing our equipment… The usual rush…

Although there is still a mountain of work to be done at Rattlebrained Designs, certain aspects of the site are beginning to look better. Last week I figured out how cpshop, the nifty script that imports the store from the Cafepress website can be used to organize the product pages and I’m quite pleased with the result…

Don’t remember where this Café was, they had space on their terrace and Guinness so what more could you ask for? There was a weird decorative mural inside with a cafe terrace scene in which a bunch of rosy cheeked, freshly released from school kids generally raised hell in front of a few wide eyed adults…

It was a long walk from the park Montsouris, up the Ave. René Coty and Boulevard Raspil to the Musée Maillol but nice since the weather was cloudy and not too hot. As a fan of his, I’ve been wanting to go to the Musée Maillol since it opened.
Having not done any homework for this trip I had no idea what to expect and was a bit disappointed at first since the temporary shows occupied maybe 2/3rds of the space, relegating many of Maillol’s smaller studies to be stuck on shelves in glass cabinets on the first floor…

Continuing from last Sunday’s post, we walked through the Montparnasse cemetery on our way to the catacombs, Place Denfert-Rochereau, which is obviously where this sketch is from. The root of a nearby tree had pushed the whole base of this relatively fancy tombstone up and out of alignment. Nature, the original rebel…

First sorry for the John Cage allusion, it was all in good fun…
I made this little flash animation four years ago, stumbled on it this morning and decided to stick it up here…
